Smoke and Fire

Thu, Feb 26th, 2015 I have known Susan and Al for quite a few years now. I'm happy to include them among my top collectors as they have purchased many wall murals from me over the years.

In January I ran into them at an art show in Sarasota and they expressed an interest in a black and white mural for their new Condo up north. The whole theme is black and white with a splash of red... and so I was on the job.

I made this mural and carved out several tiles throughout it to give the saggar fired mural a sense of texture below the dynamic smoke surface. It was inspired by this much smaller black and white piece from last year.

Once the tiles are out of the bisque kiln I'll put them in the saggar and let the serendipity of the flame do its thing.
