Sun, Sep 16th, 2012 Our 10-day ceramic workshop in Certaldo, Italy is just 1 year away!
The Yin & Yang of clay, a workshop on throwing large and saggar firing at La Meridiana International School of Ceramics is 2 weeks away. Brenda McMahon is teaching this 2-week throwing & saggar firing workshop at La Meridiana International School of Ceramics, on October 6-19, 2013.
No experience is necessary for this hands on workshop.
Tom Radca has more than 30 years of clay experience and is best known for his loose, expressive & dynamic throwing style. Tom's platters range in size from 12" - 36" in diameter and his vessels are up to 5' tall. He can throw small & large and will teach you how to do that too.
If you're not a thrower, but want to try your hand at it, this workshop is for you! If you'd rather hand-build or make tiles, we welcome you to join us.
BRENDA MCMAHON has more than 16 years of ceramic experience & she brings her signature 'saggar firing' to Italy. Brenda will teach you how to throw refined and delicate forms & create a satin or textured surface on them. She will then open her toolbox of tricks on how to fire your work in an all-organic saggar kiln, using materials from the Italian landscape. Firing experience is not necessary, instead, students should have a penchant for exploration & surprise!
