Wed, Aug 1st, 2012 Cathy & Keith's second mural is out of the kiln and framed. I hung it on the side of the barn today to see how it looks in the late afternoon light. Here are a few viewpoints.
Cathy & Keith liked a lot of the characteristics of the first mural so when I asked for feedback with the second, they didn't want too much changed. I lightened up the browns & reds on the hills and added a yellow stain in the carvings on the hills to create more contrast.
I added a bit more turquoise along the sky, changed the colors of the cutouts, adding red & purple to the mix & I gave this one a general 'lighter' feeling.
Both convey what they were looking for, now we'll see which one works best in their home. I head over to Pennsylvania in 2 weeks, where I'll show them the pieces in person and hang their choice on the wall.
