By The Water's Edge

Bamboo Directions...

Sat, Mar 17th, 2012 There is so much interest in bamboo these days. I have a couple in Sarasota wanting me to make a corner piece for their master bathroom.

There is a couple in Jupiter, FL who just installed a bamboo floor & likes my 'By the Water's Edge' and so I've made another....

And then there is a Mt. Dora couple who was intrigued by my Blue-Green Bamboo, only it's too small.

So with all that interest - I've been on a bamboo carving craze. I begin with a blank slate. I then sketch out my idea and alter and stretch the clay to begin bringing the mural to life.

From there I carve...and carve....and carve. Slowly, my clay canvas takes on a life of its own....and blooms into my expressions of bamboo.

Once the mural is finished & bisque fired....the glazing begins. I have 2 directions I'm taking...one in the blue-green hues...bright and beautiful. The other in an earthy green/brown palette. Next blog I'll show color. For this time, it's just inspiration taking shape.
