"I just LOVE IT!..."

Sun, Jun 26th, 2011 It's been an incredible 5 months working with Pamela and Mike and finally, their wall mural is in their living room and Pamela says "I love it. I just LOVE IT!"

I met Pamela and Mike at the St. Armands Art Festival in Florida in late January, 2011. They noticed my wall murals but were particularly smitten with a small one, 21" x 28" for their home. We chatted for a few moments and they left, 'we'll think about it', they said. Another nice conversation, I thought, and continued with my day at the art show.

A few hours later they returned and said we love this piece, but we have this big empty wall - can you make it bigger. Of course, I responded, that's what I do for a living, so I can work with any size and composition you like!

They were rushing to catch a plane up north, so we agreed to get in touch in a few weeks. A few emails back and forth, then a phone conversation, it wasn't until mid-March when I was scheduled to meet them again, this time in their new Venice home to look at the wall in question.

After our visit, I wrote up a proposal and estimate. In late March, the proposal was accepted, the clients put 1/3 down to secure the deal and the commission process officially began.

Pamela & Mike knew I was traveling a lot in April and would begin the commission in May. Start to finish, it's about a 4 to 6 week process, depending on both of our schedules. Due to scheduling conflicts, the delivery came almost 3 weeks after the wall mural was complete.

From there you can pick up the story in my previous blogs which is called Pamela & Mike Process #1, where I walked them through the creation process of both murals, consulted with them about composition & color along the way, received all their input and made the 2 selections.

Each time I agree to a commission, I agree to make 2 or 3 pieces for the client to choose from. This allows for me to try things they tell me and for them to have a choice of what works best.

When I make a commission, I live with the client (emotionally/spiritually) through the course of the whole creative process. So we develop a friendship, an understanding, a relationship. We dialogue and really get to know one another as it relates to the artwork. It is a wonderful and intimate process.

When clients are as happy as Pamela & Mike are, it is quite a treat! Once the artwork was on the wall and I was about to leave, Pamela's last words were: "I not only love the color, but the piece has movement and energy and flow...it feels alive, like it's breathing. You really listened to everything we told you and did exactly what we wanted. I just love it!"

Thank you Pamela and Mike - it was my honor to work with you both!
