I began studying art seriously at age ten at the Farnsworth School of Art in North Truro, MA with Helen Sawyer and Jerry Farnsworth, themselves students of Charles Hawthorne, a student of William Merritt Chase.
After majoring in Art at Stanford University, I took a detour into a career as a psychologist and only began painting again after I retired, twenty years ago. Since then I've been fortunate to be represented by galleries in New York, Santa Fe, Aspen, Boise, and Cape Cod.
For the past two years, I painted for an auction at the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American History Museum in St Petersburg. All proceeds from the show, over $50,000 was donated for college scholarships for inner-city St. Petersburg students. These last few paintings are part of that collection. 50% of the proceeds of the sale of these paintings will go toward the student scholarship fund. I plan on spending this next year painting new work to continue the scholarship fund into 2020.
