We're gearing up for our first summer workshop in a long time - and already we have a bunch of people signed up.
On July 16 & 17 we are hosting a Throwing Large & Saggar Firing workshop in Port Washington, OH. This 36-acre studio/Art Farm is located just 1 hour south of Akron/Canton, 2 hours west of Pittsburgh and 2 hours east of Columbus in beautiful Amish Country.
We begin at 9:30 with throwing on the wheel techniques then a full bounty of homemade lunch and an afternoon filled with Saggar Firing. I will review the philosophy of saggar firing, materials I use, how I fire and we'll load at least 3 kilns with pots for the saggar. Bring your own pieces AND saggars so we can get as much in the kilns as possible.
Here are some samples of what I can create from a saggar firing and some student results.
The cost of the workshop is $320. This includes breakfast & lunch both days and all materials.
Students should bring 3 to 6 bisque pots for the saggar firing and your own saggars. I will provide additional saggars and small pots for those who don't have enough.
Bring a friend or loved one and enjoy summer in Tuscarawas County!
